Morpholio Trace - Sketch CAD App Reviews

I would love to use this app, but the pen weights are totally out of scale. Really bad for technical or architectural drawing. The smallest line weight should be really fine. These lines are too thick. The largest pen sizes are so fat, I would never use them to illustrate. I should add that Im trying to use this app on new iPad pro.

I have to say that idea for this app is great. I work in construction and its perfect for quick trace sketch over plans or pictures. Set of tools is good, layers are great. But it falls very, very short on multi-gesture vs palm rejection. It actually creates unfixable problems. I have ipad pro and using Apple pencil. Its kind of works if you only need to do 10-15 quick lines and not many layers and be careful. I have one site plan that is more involved and when I place my palm on the screen it actually changed scale of trace vs original plan (I did not notice when it happened), but I could not find the way to fix it. Not good. 2 hours of tracing are wasted. I figured ok - dont use original base layer, but then similar thing happened with labels that I created as separate layer and these got misaligned (scale-wise) and I cant find the way to fix it. Seems that app got cooked quickly by developers and never got tested by actual architects construction people for sustainability for bigger drawings, sketches. Im glad I did not purchased anything from these people as Ill be doing my tracing in some other app. This one just does not work as long-term serious tool.

This is the best app ever! I love this . Sketching on my I pad in an airport right now . Up loading my rough sketch for my staff to work on in the morning . Great work flow , works great with Dropbox , Base Camp and I import PDFs to ArchiCAD . This is a great redline tool for architects . Also my clients are loving morpholio board . If your a little old school and love to sketch but are on the go and hate scanning and emailing this is your tool.Running mine on an I pad pro with a Mac pencil , total game changer . I want to work on the research and development team !

This application with Apple Pencil and iPad Pro is a must for any Architect, with the pencil you can draw as you draw in a real paper no time lag, I inserted the image of some iconic projects and try to illustrate it using this application, big screen enable me achieve better art sketching. Pen and Pencil thickness can be thiner for fine tuning details.

Try it, its a highly functional straight forward minimal learning curve high potential app of this type. In some ways better than the competition, in others not so much. Needs for 5 stars. -better compatibility and integration with Apple pencil, specifically the palm part -ability to add text -more stability -shapes, arcs, squares, circles etc. -a better snap -pens...? Much better but could be even better -more trace paper color options -better import/export options -copy, cut & paste This is a really nice app, if they work out some of the kinks this could be a serious contender to Concepts.

Why cant you just by the software once and be done with it? I have to pay you crooks 99 cents every month? I didnt even ask for the pro version. It just showed up out of nowhere. I better not get charged for this crap.

As an architect who learned with pencils, pens, markers,…and trace…but who’s also been totally committed to BIM since 1991, Trace is a wonderful and magical bridge between the benefits of overlay sketching and the power of a fully digital workflow. The tools are fluid and logical, and keep getting better. The developer has been quick to respond directly to me about questions and requests, and within a couple of weeks…Poof!…my requests were incorporated (and then some), and then sent me a direct email to let me know. I was so impressed that I went and bought some of their other products. There are obviously still things that could be added, but I can only imagine how good this app will be even a few months from now. For cleverness, ease of use, flexibility, a respect for the benefits of hand-drawing, and responsiveness of the developer: 5 Stars.

I am currently an architecture student at MIT and have found this app incredibly useful in my design process in studio. It makes digital and analogue design techniques seamless. I bring photos and cad drawings in, trace over them and email the collage to include in my presentation boards. The pens are sophisticated and realistic. This has become an integral instrument in my work. Highly recommended.

If youre undertaking a design project, this tool makes the design process infinitely easier. The attention to detail and functionality in this app is unbelievable. Im a huge fan.

The Cloud Drive integration is great. Before you could only bring in PDFs from an email or other "Open in Trace" from other platforms. You can also save the project as a PDF back into the your choice of service (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc) It has come full circle.

I have not used this app in a while and just came back to it for a job. I absolutely love the new interface and tools. Much greater range of functions and love the new design. I dont usually write reviews but this one deserves it.

I’ve used and played around with Trace from the beginning. It has definitely reached a level that can be integrated into the professional workflow of design. The new Scale Pen is really nice in that you can nail the same line weight over and over rather than a typical slider you can only eyeball. Definitely worth the subscription to invest in the development of the tool. I look forward to the updates.

This is 100% the best architecture app Ive seen and by far the best customer service. Please add multi page PDF, otherwise its a CAD killer. I would give you 6 stars if I could.

Morpholio Trace has allowed us to go more paperless and mobile without losing quality and fluidity of conventional hand sketching. The new version allows us to connect to our server hosted by Google Drive, add overlays on the fly to existing drawings and leverage sketching to our clients at their offices or in the field. Its amazing to swap traces and email the final version to all parties. The new pen settings enhance the quality of the app and we couldnt be happier with it. Our only ask is for more stencil or custom stencil options for common elements like bathroom and kitchen components. Highly recommend this app to any architect or designer who wants to augment their digital workflow or digitize their analogue workflow.

Reviewed for iPad pro by an Architect: This is one of the better sketching apps out there. I use it regularly and I have the Pro version which has additional features which are a must for an architect to use. Areas to focus: Better palm rejection to the app I would change my review to 5 stars. MUST HAVE: please add Functionality for multiple images or PDF imported into a single sketch.

Trace is a great app! Very innovative allowing layered annotations alone or on top of images! I use it to add perspective to my presentations. Im hoping to figure a way to video record my annotations and play them like a Chalk Talk step by step. Im also hoping to use this to trace my slides without showing them with a pen, so people dont see the whole slide until I am finished. That will keep them watching until the end instead of tuning out after seeing the static slide. Bravo!

Im already using this for everything. It is so simple yet brilliant. I miss the old canary yellow days and love the idea of quickly sketching over my work. So far I have used it for concept ideas, marking up drawings, constriction photos and team communication. Love it!!!!! Thank you morpholio.
